Not medical advice

TL;DR provides informational guidance only and may contain errors. Always check product packaging and consult a healthcare professional for dietary, allergen, or medical decisions.

What TL;DR does

TL;DR looks at a photo of a grocery shelf and, based on the dietary preferences you've entered, indicates which products appear to match those preferences. Products that appear to match are shown clearly; products that don't are dimmed (shown blurred and/or with reduced contrast depending on the selection of the user).

This is a guide to help you scan a shelf faster. It is not a verified, guaranteed, or medically reliable assessment of any product.

Why you must always check the packaging yourself

  • TL;DR can be wrong. The app uses automated image recognition, which makes mistakes. It may misidentify a product, miss it entirely, or misread what it is.
  • Products change. Ingredients, recipes, and allergen information change often, and can differ between batches, stores, and countries. The app may not reflect the product actually in front of you.
  • The app cannot read every label. It does not detect every ingredient, allergen, or warning.

A product shown as a match is not a confirmation that it is safe for you. A product that is dimmed is not confirmation that it is unsuitable. Both are suggestions only.

Before you buy or consume anything, read the product's packaging, ingredient list, and allergen information directly on the product.

If you have an allergy or medical condition

If you have a food allergy, intolerance, or any medical condition, do not rely on TL;DR. Always read the label yourself and consult a qualified healthcare professional for any dietary, allergen, or medical decision.

Your responsibility

You use TL;DR at your own risk, and you are solely responsible for your purchasing and consumption decisions. TL;DR is a convenience tool, not a substitute for reading labels or getting professional advice.
